Duncan & Daphne

Created as deeply personal commissioned portraits, Duncan and Daphne are contemporary portrait diptych that transforms companionship and personality into layered expression through color, texture, and movement. Created entirely without the use of black paint, the work was built through an intentional exploration of color theory — combining more than 24 individual shades of blue to create depth, contrast, shadow, and emotion within each portrait.

Developed across multiple layered applications of acrylic, the paintings balance softness and structure, allowing light and tone to define the subjects in an unconventional yet deeply refined way. The monochromatic blue palette creates a sense of calm sophistication while highlighting the individuality and spirit of both Duncan and Daphne.

More than pet portraits, these works were designed as modern heirloom pieces — personal, expressive, and created to hold emotional presence within the space they live in.
